About this event

The 'Asuka Star Festival 2026' is a special event commemorating the World Heritage inscription and the 10th anniversary of the Hall of the Four Gods (Shijin-no-Yakata), where stars, people, and the Four Gods resonate together. Packed with content for families and parents with children to enjoy, various events themed around the starry sky will be held. For example, in the workshop 'Let's Dye an Asuka Star Festival Special Four Gods Tenugui Towel' using Kitora soil, participants can make their own original tenugui towel. In addition, the 'Folk Art Terakoya Performing Arts Performance', which stages folk performing arts from across Japan under the title 'Prayers to the Stars Cross the Sky and Transcend Time', connects global peace and children's future through traditional prayer performing arts handed down from ancient times. Furthermore, a concert where visitors can experience the world of 'The Little Prince' through violin and piano performances, and the 'Star Welcoming Ritual & Empress Saimei Imperial Procession' where participants wear ancient costumes and experience Empress Saimei's imperial visit, will also be held. In addition, opportunities to deeply reflect on culture, nature, and time are offered, such as a workshop to dye a hire scarf with grape arabesque patterns and a global calendar workshop connecting oneself with the universe. Through these events, participants can fully enjoy the rich history and culture of Asuka, as well as the charm of the starry sky.
