About this event
This is a bus tour organized by Nara Kotsu commemorating the World Heritage inscription of the 'Palaces and Related Properties of Asuka-Fujiwara'. On this tour, participants ride the specially designed 'Shijin' (Four Gods) bus and enjoy a rare opportunity for a private viewing of the National Treasure Kitora Tomb murals (Genbu/Black Tortoise, Seiryu/Azure Dragon, Suzaku/Vermilion Bird) accompanied by commentary from Mr. Hiroshi Sugiyama, former deputy director of the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties. Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the museum's opening, visitors can learn deeply from an expert perspective during this simultaneous 3-sided public viewing. In addition, the tour visits component heritage sites of the 'Palaces and Related Properties of Asuka-Fujiwara' World Heritage nomination, such as the Ishibutai Tumulus, Asuka Palace Site, and Fujiwara Palace Site where cosmos flowers bloom beautifully. For lunch, participants can also enjoy the specialty 'Ishibutai Teishoku' meal. Packed with rich content, this tour allows visitors to fully relish the ancient romance and historical depth of Japan in the pleasant autumn breeze.
