At the "Autumn Festa 2026 in Wakayama Port," held on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Wakayama Shimotsu Port Wharf No. 6 in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force minesweeper "Chichijima" and the Wakayama Coast Guard patrol vessel "Kii" will be open to the public. This is a rare opportunity to tour inside vessels normally closed to the public. At the venue, equipment displays from the Self-Defense Forces and fire department are scheduled—including the Ground Self-Defense Force High Mobility Vehicle, Air Self-Defense Force Patriot launcher, and Wakayama City Fire Department ladder truck—allowing visitors to see powerful vehicles up close. Food trucks will also be present, allowing you to enjoy meals while participating in the event. Admission is free and no advance application is required, but baggage inspections at the venue entrance and on-board precautions (wearing comfortable walking shoes, parasols not permitted, etc.) apply.
