About this event
This is a traditional festival that commemorates over 400 years of whaling history in Taiji and gives thanks for the blessings of whales. The festival comes alive with local performing arts, dances, specialty goods stalls from various municipalities, food bazaars, and more. In particular, the "Taiji Whale Dance (Taiji no Kujira Odori)" performed near the finale is drawing attention as a constituent cultural property of the Japan Heritage "Living with Whales," which marks its 10th anniversary of designation this fiscal year. Set at the Taiji Fishing Port Fureai Square, it is an event where you can savor local culture and gastronomy.
