About this event
"RUMOI SUP FESTIVAL 2026," held in Rumoi City, Hokkaido, is a stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) festival. On Saturday, August 29, 2026, a paddle clinic, test-ride sessions, and a social gathering will be held, offering opportunities to improve SUP skills and deepen exchanges. The following day, Sunday, August 30, various races will unfold set against the south shore of Rumoi Port. A wide range of categories is prepared across distances of 6 km, 3 km, and 1 km, including inflatable classes, kids' classes, fun races, and even a dog SUP class where participants can enjoy paddleboarding with their pet dogs. In particular, classes with board limits of 14 ft or under and 12.6 ft or under, kids' classes for elementary school students, and dog SUP classes for large and small dogs meet the diverse needs of participants. The top three finishers in each race will receive awards, and costume awards will also be given in the dog SUP class. Furthermore, if there are 3 or more participants aged 50 or older, separate awards will be presented for the Masters class. The entry fee includes insurance, and registration via Rumoi City's Hometown Tax Donation (Furusato Nozei) is also possible. On the day of the event, a 700-yen shopping voucher usable at Roadside Station Rumoi (Rushin Fureai Park) will also be distributed to participants (excluding some shops). The competition is held as an official event recognized by the Stand Up Paddleboard Association of Japan (SUPA) and proceeds in accordance with SUPA race competition rules. Event cancellation is determined based on SUPA official competition regulations, natural disasters, or vessel emergency responses, and no backup date is scheduled. Photos and video footage related to the tournament may be used on various social media and in the press.
