On the two days of Sunday, August 30 and Monday, August 31, 2026, a public opening of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer "Makinami (DD-112)" will be held at Kotanhama Wharf in Rumoi Port, Rumoi City, Hokkaido. On this occasion, visitors can tour the interior of the destroyer, which is normally off-limits. No advance application is required on the day, and anyone can participate for free. When touring, for safety reasons, visitors are advised to avoid coming in sandals, high heels, or skirts, and are recommended to attend in easy-to-move-in clothing and comfortable walking shoes. Please be very careful with your footing, as it is slippery inside the vessel. The event may be canceled or its details changed depending on the weather or vessel circumstances.
