Izumo Philharmonic Orchestra 28th Subscription Concert: Symphony of Joy

Held as the Shin-phonic Festival 2026, the Izumo Philharmonic Orchestra's 28th Subscription Concert will take place in September, a special season leading up to Kamiarizuki (the month when gods gather in Izumo). The program, inviting listeners from Greek mythology to Izumo mythology, and from prayer to joy, offers a special experience where myths are passed down, nature and climate nurture people, and music connects person to person. Resonating there is a symphony of joy. Please enjoy a celebratory musical moment with iPhil, experiencing revived "true/new/godly" sounds, resurrected masterpieces, myths returning from the underworld, and revived joy. The program includes J. Offenbach's Overture to the operetta "La belle Helene", the ode "The Crucible of Heaven and Earth" - Izumo Hymn (Izumo Philharmonic Choir) with poetry by Makoto Ooka and music by Teruaki Suzuki, and J. Brahms' Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73. Conducted by Akinori Nakai, with Sohei Takahata serving as concertmaster.
