3rd Okuizumo Orochi Loop Gourmet Marathon

About this event

This is a fun run event set against the backdrop of the "Orochi Loop" and beautiful rural scenery in Yakawa, Okuizumo Town, Shimane Prefecture. Participants can enjoy both a marathon and gourmet food simultaneously, with entry available as a solo runner or as a team relay. Enjoyable running through countryside roads with almost no traffic lights while savoring seasonal flavors is its main appeal. Three aid stations are set up along the course: handmade sasa-maki (bamboo-wrapped rice cakes) and Okuizumo maitake mushroom tempura at Roadside Station Okuizumo Orochi Loop (Michi-no-Eki Okuizumo Orochi Loop); hand-made Izumo soba noodles and Ishida Tofu's oboro tofu at Kozen-ji Temple; and Yakawa-grown Shine Muscat grapes, blueberries, and raw dorayaki at Guest Nagomi. After finishing, complimentary treats such as all-you-can-eat freshly harvested Nita rice and grilled Okuizumo Wagyu beef are scheduled, along with a raffle for all participants. As a special rule, limited to the first 50 participants, it is possible to "warp" using the JR Kisuki Line and then run to the finish line. The solo category covers 35.4 km with an entry fee of 10,000 yen, and the relay category costs 20,000 yen per team. The entry capacity is 300 runners for the solo division and 50 teams for the relay division.
