About this event

The "36th Gonokawa Fishing Tournament," held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 in Misato Town, Shimane Prefecture, is an event aimed at preserving the beautiful scenery of the Gonokawa River for the future through the extermination of invasive fish species and garbage collection. Participants can contribute to environmental conservation while having fun. The tournament uses Canoe Park Misato Canoule IMAI (141 Shiki, Misato-cho, Ochi-gun) as the meeting and disbanding location, running from 7:15 AM to 11:30 AM. The participation fee is 800 yen for adults and 500 yen for junior high school students and younger (elementary school students and younger must in principle be accompanied by a guardian). Rental fishing rods are limited in quantity and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications will be accepted from Monday, July 27 to Friday, September 2, and will close as soon as the 50-person capacity is reached. Applications can be made via dedicated form, fax, or phone. The organizer is the Misato Town Tourism Association (general incorporated association), with support from Misato Town, Ochi Yamato Lions Club, and the Egawa Fisheries Cooperative.
