About this event
The "Misato Bali Festival 2026," fusing Balinese culture and Iwami Kagura, will be held in Misato Town, Shimane Prefecture. In this 3rd edition of the event, the gamelan group "Candra Baskara," which also performed at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, along with numerous Balinese dancers from across Japan, will participate. Furthermore, students from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Denpasar (ISI Denpasar) will visit Japan to showcase dances and musical performances. Another highlight is the "Creative Barong Dance" performed by "Sanukisari," renowned for Barong dance, and Misato Town's Iwami Kagura group "Tsuga Kagura." Food and beverage booths will be set up from inside and outside the town, and the launch of balloon lanterns floating into the night sky is planned for the finale. Misato Town is a rare municipality nationwide that owns three sets of the traditional Indonesian instrument "gamelan," and aims to attract visitors to the town by utilizing these gamelan instruments. Through the festival, it is expected to serve as an opportunity for many people from inside and outside the town to visit Misato Town and deepen cross-cultural exchanges. Operational supporters are also being recruited, allowing people to support the event through venue reception, beautification activities, questionnaire collection, and instrument changeover operations.
