Japanese name:岡山後楽園 名月観賞会

About this event
The annual "Harvest Moon Viewing Gathering" at Okayama Korakuen will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026. This viewing event is a traditional event that has continued since 1956, where you can enjoy moon viewing in a famous garden on the day of the mid-autumn harvest moon (August 15 of the lunar calendar). Despite being located in the city center, it is known as one of the few places where you can view the harvest moon rising from the mountain ridge without any obstruction. On the day of the event, the lawn from in front of Enyotei to in front of Kakumeikan, which is usually restricted, will be opened to the public, allowing visitors to relax and sit on the grass to enjoy moon viewing. Opening hours will also be extended to 21:30, with final admission at 21:00. Koto musical performances and a harvest moon viewing tea ceremony will also be held at the venue, and special moon-viewing bento boxed meals will be on sale. Bringing your own bento or dango dumplings to quietly appreciate the moon is also recommended. Why not spend a special moment in the magical night garden while reflecting on the history of feudal lords' moon viewing that has continued since the Edo period?
