Japanese name:浅口市文化財講座第1回「緑のアッケシソウを楽しむ会」

📅 Sat, Sep 19, 2026

📍 Asakuchi, Okayama

About this event

Glasswort (Akkeshiso) growing wild in the Yorishima reclaimed land of Asakuchi City is an extremely rare plant designated as an endangered species on the Ministry of the Environment's Red List and protected as a city-designated natural monument. In this lecture, participants can learn about the little-known ecology of glasswort. Just before turning red in autumn, glasswort blooms with dainty white flowers. Take this opportunity to observe green glasswort and its flowers up close and appreciate its charm. The event will proceed in light rain, but will be cancelled if a weather warning is in effect in Okayama Prefecture as of 6:00 AM on the day. Parking is available around the south side of Glasswort Habitat Area A; please follow the staff's instructions. As moving from the parking area to Glasswort Habitat Area C requires walking, please come in comfortable walking attire. When observing, please follow proper etiquette and cooperate so as not to cause trouble to cultural heritage preservation groups or other visitors.
