About this event
At San'o Shrine, an annual festival is held every year on October 23, during which Bugaku (traditional court dance and music) is dedicated to the deities. Known as Sanno-sha before the Meiji period, the shrine enshrines Saeki no Kuramoto, Iwaki-no-Okina, Tokoro-no-Okina, and others. This festival is a long-standing traditional Shinto ritual and an important cultural event for the local community. The dedication of Bugaku combines the solemn atmosphere of a Shinto ritual with artistic beauty, leaving a deep impression on visitors. Located in Miyajima-cho, Hatsukaichi City, San'o Shrine continues to preserve its community-rooted festival alongside its history and traditions.
