About this event

Set against the grounds of Akama Shrine, this is a fantastical entertainment piece condensing famous scenes coloring Shimonoseki's history, such as the sorrow of the Taira clan forced into destruction at the Battle of Dan-no-ura, the eight-boat leap of Minamoto no Yoshitsune leading the Genji clan to victory, the Ganryujima duel between Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro, and the dynamism of the Kiheitai founded by Takasugi Shinsaku at the end of the Edo period. On the illuminated staircase of Akama Shrine enveloped in mystical lighting, historic scenes are realistically recreated. The scheduled program includes Heike Drums, Heike Elegy, Yoshitsune's Eight-Boat Leap, Demise of the Heike, The Ghost Story of Earless Hoichi, Musashi and Kojiro's Duel, Restoration Kiheitai, and Straits Courtesan Picture Scroll, allowing visitors to spend a night immersed in Shimonoseki's historical romance. Recommended not only for history buffs, but also for those seeking powerful stage performances and an extraordinary experience.
