About this event
A special performance by Ichikawa Danjuro XIII, a leading figure in the kabuki world, will be held on a spectacular stage overlooking the Kanmon Straits. A special venue will be set up at "Misakicho Nigiwai Hiroba," which overlooks Dannoura, the site of the final battle between the Genji and Heike clans. Guests can enjoy the timeless history and the essence of traditional Japanese performing arts along with the scenery of the straits transitioning from dusk to night. Ichikawa Danjuro will perform "Renjishi" at this location overlooking Dannoura, fitting given that many kabuki plays are themed around the Genpei War. The stage, where fierce history and vigorous dance unite, is a must-see. The performance program includes commentary, the suodori dance "Ennen no Mai" (Benkei's celebratory dance), the suodori dance "Shizuka to Tomomori," and "Renjishi." Discount tickets are also available for residents of Yamaguchi Prefecture and Kitakyushu City. During the performance period, the "Shimonoseki Accommodation Support Campaign" will also be implemented, offering discounts on accommodation fees and coupons that can be used at restaurants and souvenir shops in the city.
