Shimonoseki Kaikyo Marathon 2026 is a marathon event held on one of Japan's premier seaside courses overlooking the Kanmon Straits and the Sea of Japan. Two categories will be held: the full marathon (42.195 km) and the 2 km fun run. The full marathon is a JAAF-certified course with a registered division and a general division, and the entry fee is 12,000 yen (13,000 yen for charity). The capacity is 10,000 participants (first-come, first-served). The start time is 8:30 AM. The time limit is 6 hours, with 11 checkpoints set up along the course. The 2 km fun run is open to elementary school students and older, with an entry fee of 2,000 yen (3,000 yen for charity). The capacity is 1,000 participants (first-come, first-served). The start time is 8:45 AM, and there is no time limit. Full marathon finishers will be presented with a medal and a finisher's towel, and 2 km fun run finishers will receive a towel. A web finisher certificate (preliminary) will be issued on the day of the race, and a photo finisher certificate and MCC special record certificate can be downloaded at a later date. Participants wishing to start from the S block can start with priority if they meet specified record criteria. Video footage, photos, articles, and other media of the event belong to the organizer.
