About this event
Ritsurin Garden Takigi Noh is a traditional performing arts performance held at Ritsurin Garden in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. Noh is performed against the backdrop of Mount Shiun on a temporary outdoor stage set up at the site of the former Hinoki Palace, where the feudal lord's suburban residence once stood. In a feudal lord's daimyo garden at night after closing hours, this is a precious opportunity to simultaneously savor both the subtle and profound (yugen) world of Noh and the elegance of the garden. A distinguished lineup—including Living National Treasures Akiyo Tomoeda and Genjiro Okura, along with performers from the local area—conveys the deep essence of traditional performing arts. In the event of rain, the performance is scheduled to be held in the Small Hall of Rexxam Hall (Kagawa Prefectural Citizens' Hall).
