About this event
Held at the precious "Sanuki Kokubunji Temple Ruins," designated as a National Special Historic Site, the "25th Sanuki Kokubunji Historic Site Festival" is an event where visitors can experience the atmosphere of Nara period Tempyo culture. On the day, various attractions will take place, including the Children's Chikara-mochi (Strength) Competition and the "Tempyo Procession," which recreates the costumes of Nara period aristocrats. In the Children's Chikara-mochi Competition, participants from preschoolers to elementary school students compete in distance walked while carrying sandbags in their respective classes, scheduled to start sequentially from 1:00 PM. The Tempyo Procession is open to children 100 cm or taller and will be held twice, in morning and afternoon sessions. Additionally, volunteer guides will assist visitors with a quiz rally at designated quiz stations around the Sanuki Kokubunji Temple Ruins to explain the historic site, and a flea market will also be held on-site. The flea market booth fee is 2,000 yen per booth. In case of rain, the event will be postponed to Tuesday, November 3.
