About this event
The "Water Festival in Fuchu Lake" will be held to widely share the importance and effective use of water with prefectural residents, revitalize the local communities of Sakaide City and Fuchu Town, and promote appealing town development. Over the 2 days, the festival is packed with events to see, experience, and taste. On Day 1, the "Iki-Iki Walk" featuring an approx. 6 km long course titled "Fuchu Past and Present Tales: In Search of Showa Retro" and a mini-course starts at 9:30 AM, with complimentary hospitality servings of udon and ameyu (sweet malt ginger drink). In the afternoon, visitors can enjoy water activities during the Dragon Canoe Experience Session (boarding at 12:00). On Day 2, the 28th Sakaide Fuchu Lake Dragon Canoe Competition opens at 8:30 AM, featuring heated 200m races by adult men, adult women, and elementary school students. An awards ceremony and closing ceremony will also take place. Furthermore, a wide variety of events are scheduled, including the Water Stage / Tent Village, Takushin Taiko drumming performance (from 8:00), exhibition corners, hands-on experience booths, Delicious Food Plaza, on-lake festival, direct farm produce sales, mochi-pounding demonstrations and sales, and the traditional "mochi throwing" (mochinage). It offers 2 days to interact with nature and rediscover the area's charms.
