"Matsuno Shimanto Bike Race 2026," an adventurous mountain bike forest trail race running through the rich nature spanning Ehime and Kochi Prefectures, will be held on Sunday, November 15, 2026. National forest roads that are normally closed to the public are opened exclusively for this day, allowing participants to fully enjoy communion with vast nature—the true thrill of mountain biking—set against deep forests, beautiful gorges, and idyllic satoyama in the inner Shimanto region of Shikoku. The premier Ultimate Class is one of Japan's most grueling cross-country marathon courses, featuring a distance of over 130 km and over 3,000 m of cumulative elevation gain. This year, a new Challenge Class with a distance of approximately 48 km has been introduced, making it easier for a wider range of riders to participate. Additionally, an E-BIKE division is available for all classes, with E-BIKE rentals also offered. On the day before the event, a guided E-BIKE tour visiting the scenic spots of Nametoko Gorge will also be held.
