About this event
Fukuoka Asian Film Festival 2026 is a film festival screening masterworks primarily from Asia. This year, under the special theme of "Passing Down Tradition," 3 works highlighting Japanese Shinto rituals and traditional performing arts that pass down tradition will be screened. In addition, accompanying the screening of works related to Tadao Sato, who was active as the director of Focus on Asia, a book reading corner will be set up, along with the first screening of short films from the Damah International Film Festival and a wide lineup from Taiwan, Myanmar, Turkey, and beyond. Celebrating its 26th year since its inception aimed at introducing Asian cultures through cinema, the festival will screen a total of 11 films, including director Zhang Lu's "Ode to the Goose" (Gunsan), buzzed-about titles, documentaries, and archival films.
