Hakata General Rolling Stock Depot Tour

This is a special tour where visitors can fully enjoy the world of the Shinkansen bullet train at JR West's Hakata General Rolling Stock Depot, a facility normally off-limits to the public. Active train maintenance technicians will guide visitors through the depot that supports the operation of the Sanyo Shinkansen. On the tour, guests can visit the Shinkansen driver's cab (crew room), which is usually inaccessible, and observe the movement of train cars using a traverser used for Shinkansen inspections. In addition, the bogie inspection, which allows visitors to view the Shinkansen bogies and underfloor equipment up close at wheel level, will be conducted for the first time. In the afternoon session, participants can also experience Shinkansen inspection and repair operations. The required time and tour details differ between the morning and afternoon sessions; the morning session is family-oriented and allows elementary school students and older when accompanied by an adult, while the afternoon session is limited to participants aged 18 and older for a deeper experience. All participants will also receive an original commemorative gift.
