About this event

In Fukuoka Prefecture, marking 79 years since the end of the war and as the wartime generation ages and decreases, the "Wartime Materials Exhibition" is held annually at various locations across the prefecture to exhibit valuable materials donated by residents, ensuring the tragic memories of war do not fade and passing down its lessons and the preciousness of peace to the next generation. This area once hosted a major military center centered on Tachiarai Airfield, which the former Imperial Japanese Army boasted as the largest in the Orient, developing while playing a historic role. However, in March 1945, it suffered catastrophic damage from a massive U.S. air raid, taking many precious lives, including civilians. It was also a location that saw off numerous Tokko (kamikaze) special attack pilots as a transit relay base. Through this panel exhibition, why not take an opportunity to reflect once more on war and peace?
