About this event
This is an autumn festival in the Suzuta district that brings together the local Respect-for-the-Aged gathering, annual grand festival, and cultural festival. Starting with the mikoshi (portable shrine) descent parade, the event comes alive with powerful stage performances such as the Shimosuzuta Furyu dance, as well as stalls selling a variety of food and small items including yakisoba, udon, takoyaki, crepes, burgers, and local vegetables. Toward the end of the festival, a "mochimaki" (rice cake scattering) that enlivens the venue and a "grand lottery" with no losing tickets will also be held. The program is packed with entertainment for both adults and children, including an impersonator and comedian talk show, a professional wadaiko drumming performance, a brass band performance by Kushima Junior High School, a Suzuta Sentai Suzuranger show, Hawaiian hula dancing, and shigin (poetry chanting) recitals.
