"Minamata Sports Festa 2026" is a hands-on event held mainly at the Minamata City General Gymnasium, where anyone can casually enjoy sports. A wide variety of sporting events are prepared for a broad age range, from small children to the elderly. Last year, the event bustled with over 1,000 visitors, and this year aims for an even more upgraded lineup. A basketball clinic and talk show by Yuka Mamiya, a former member of the Japanese women's basketball national team at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, will be held, and participants are currently being recruited. In addition, there are plenty of food and drink booths, and vendors to help liven up the venue together are also being sought. A fun raffle with luxurious prizes is planned at the end of the event, making it a great day to fully enjoy the sports of autumn. Participants can experience a diverse array of sports including rubber baseball, softball, table tennis, badminton, basketball, kendo, karate, gymnastics, beach ball volleyball, boat racing, soccer, handball, soft tennis, volleyball, track and field, Shorinji Kempo, swimming, canoeing, kyudo (Japanese archery), and archery.
