On October 3, 2026, the '35th Kagura Festival' will be held at Roadside Station Namino 'Kaguraen' in Namino, Aso City, Kumamoto Prefecture. At this festival, a total of 8 groups are scheduled to perform, including local preservation societies from Namino, Aso City such as the Nakae Iwato Kagura Preservation Society and Yokobori Iwato Kagura Preservation Society, as well as the Mitake Kagura and Ume Kagura Preservation Society from Oita Prefecture. Furthermore, as a special performance this year, Iwami Kagura from Shimane Prefecture will also be showcased, offering a rare opportunity to appreciate heroic kagura dances. The event runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with doors opening at 8:30 AM. If the parking lot at the venue, Roadside Station Namino 'Kaguraen', is full, you can park at Namino Ground and use the free shuttle bus to the venue. Admission is 1,000 yen for high school students and above, and free for junior high school students and younger. This festival aims to widely share the appeal of kagura as a local traditional performing art while contributing to regional revitalization. With kagura groups from various regions gathering in one place to present their distinctive dances, audiences can experience the depth and diversity of kagura.
