About this event
Set in Isshochi Onsen in Kuma Village, the "2nd Isshochi Onsen Lantern Night & Kuma Village Duck Race" is an event that families can enjoy together from afternoon to evening. The main event, the "Kuma Village Duck Race," is a popular participatory activity where resin ducks are floated down the river to compete in speed to the finish line; the participation fee is 100 yen per duck. Reception is from 14:00 to 16:00, and the start is at 16:30. Ducks retrieved after reaching the goal can be taken home. As a special project, "Let's Make a Glowing Decorated Uchiwa Fan!" will also be held, with a participation fee of 1,000 yen for the first 100 participants. In the evening, the "Lantern Night Market" will be held until 20:00, with popular food trucks and stalls scheduled to appear. Stage events include a hilarious talk show by "Kikuchikun," a brass band performance by the Kumagawa Wind Ensemble, and the Yunomae Station Live in Kuma Village. You can spend a special day amidst the warm glow of the hot spring town on a cooling September evening. Please note that due to the impact of the "2026 Kumamoto Earthquake" that occurred on July 28, 2026, the event originally scheduled for Saturday, September 12 has been postponed.
