63rd Tsukumi Folding Fan Dance Festival

About this event

It is said that the 'Sensu Odori' (folding fan dance), drawing from the tradition of Kyo-mai dance, was created to honor the spirits of fallen warriors and farmers from the era of Lord Otomo Sorin. Characterized by the contrast between the elegance of dancing with beautiful folding fans and the heroic gestures depicting battles of that era, it has been passed down as a representative traditional performing art of Tsukumi. At this festival, this traditional dance will be showcased.
