Usuki City Hometown Bon Odori Festival
Japanese name:臼杵市ふるさと盆踊り大会
📅 Fri, Aug 21, 2026
About this event
Following a memorial service to pray for the war dead and the newly deceased, "Saibun" and "Onatsu" are danced to the narration of the Seicho Usuki Odori Preservation Society. This Bon Odori serves as an important opportunity for local residents to gather and perform traditional dances, remembering the deceased and deepening the bonds of the local community. In particular, the powerful chanting by the preservation society and the responsive dancing of "Saibun" and "Onatsu" captivate spectators and further heighten the Bon Odori atmosphere. The sound of taiko drums echoing on a summer night and the warm voices of the people unite to create an event that lets you feel the good old Japanese summer ambiance.
