About this event
Back by popular demand, the Miyakonojo History Museum is holding its 2nd Night Museum (special evening opening). Coinciding with the 15th Yoshio Tomimatsu Memorial Moon Viewing Gathering held on the same day, visitors can enjoy special exhibits about Tsukimi (harvest moon viewing) as well as paper sumo and paper tug-of-war games associated with moon viewing culture. Admission is free during the event, making it easy to drop by. Inside the museum, paper sumo and paper tug-of-war tournaments will be held, allowing participants to experience hands-on matches. The 1st session starts at 5:00 PM and the 2nd session at 6:00 PM, each with a capacity of 20 people on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition, panel displays will explain the customs and origins of sumo and tug-of-war during Tsukimi (Jugoya). Take this opportunity to experience traditional games and culture while spending an evening appreciating the moon.
