"Hioki & Kanosuke Distillery Festival 2026: Hioki Distilled Spirits Trail" is a special one-day event celebrating the distilled spirits culture of Satsuma. Visitors can explore spirits culture along a trail connecting two venues: "Kanosuke Distillery," which operates under the concept of "MELLOW LAND, MELLOW WHISKY," and "Hioki Distillery (Komasa Jyozo)," which produces a diverse array of distilled spirits ranging from shochu to whisky, gin, rum, and liqueurs. Featuring event-exclusive bottle sales, special seminars by distillers, original cocktails, food trucks offering local delicacies, and live jazz, it offers a special occasion to savor the 140-year tradition of shochu making alongside innovative craft endeavors amidst the rich nature of Hioki. At the Kanosuke Distillery venue, visitors can experience the charm of KANOSUKE whisky through complimentary welcome drinks, original whisky cocktails, hand-fill bottling experiences, a special opening of the normally restricted "Legacy Aging Cellar," and free access to the visitor center tour area. At the Hioki Distillery venue, offerings include welcome tastings of fresh shochu, KOMASA GIN, and KOMASA RUM, sales of festival-exclusive authentic sweet potato shochu, hand-fill experiences, a special opening of the historic storehouse, and special seminars where distillery staff share product development stories and craftsmanship insights. Both venues will feature food trucks serving local delicacies from Kagoshima and Hioki, as well as festival game corners for children.
