Shimokuji Jugoya Festival

The Jugoya Festival will be held in the Shimokuji settlement. This festival is prepared and managed primarily by the Shimokuji Young and Middle-Aged Men's Association. A pavilion called sanshiki is assembled on the beach, and in the central dohyo ring, events such as 'Mibama-fumashi' to pray for the health of newborns, a strength contest carrying a lifting stone of about 70 kg, and a tug-of-war by participants are held. In addition, the full moon viewed from the beach further enlivens the festival atmosphere. You must bring your own food and drinks. This festival is a precious opportunity to feel the local tradition and vitality.
