Miyako Autumn Festival

About this event

Gorgeously decorated boat floats parade through the streets, competing in their beauty. Hand dancing by large crowds of citizens follows, and energetic shouts fitting for a festival of coastal people echo throughout the town. It is a community-rooted festival conveying the deep affection of coastal locals for the sea. This year's slogan is 'Festival Restart (Saikido): A Connecting Festival,' aiming to connect to the future, connect with the community, and connect person to person. Exhibitions of past photographs and more will also be held.
