Oni no Yakata Performing Arts Performance (September)

Kitakami City Museum of Oni (Oni no Yakata) holds regular performances of "Oni Kenbai", a folk performing art handed down in Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture. Each performance sets a theme and introduces the origin and preservation activities of Oni Kenbai in detail. In September, a performance titled "Revering Ancestors: Namu Amida Butsu" showcasing the Ichiban-niwa and Kurui programs with a focus on Buddhist chants (nenbutsu) will be presented by Iwasaki Oni Kenbai. In addition, a performance titled "Oni Kenbai and Decorative Props: Fan Edition" showcasing programs that characteristically use fans (Ichiban-niwa, Ichiban-niwa no Kurui, Sanban-niwa, etc.) will be presented by Oniyanagi Oni Kenbai. Through these performances, visitors can experience the profound world of Oni Kenbai.
