About this event
The 'Tono Marathon', set in Japan's eternal hometown, is a running event held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Tono City, Iwate Prefecture. Since all divisions are open to all ages and genders without competing for rankings, beginners and families can participate casually. The 9.5 km category is open to high school students and older, while the 4.5 km, 2.5 km, and 600 m categories are open to anyone. With Tono Athletic Park as the main venue, participants can run while enjoying a course surrounded by expansive rural scenery. Enjoying sightseeing in Tono after the event is also recommended. Participation prizes include drinks and a commemorative finisher's towel (planned), and while there are no top awards, special prizes featuring local Tono products will be awarded by lottery. Organized by the Tono City Sports Association, inquiries regarding details are handled by the Tono City Track and Field Association.
