About this event
Held annually on the second Saturday of September as an event to pass down the local traditional performing art "Haneko Odori" handed down in the Monou district of Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture, is the "Monou Fureai Festival Haneko Odori Festival in Monou." As a rhythmic traditional performing art rare even nationwide, Haneko Odori is transmitted as a harvest dance composed of three musical accompaniments. On the day, a breathtaking performance will unfold with a multitude of dancers dancing freely. Furthermore, a fireworks display scheduled as the festival's grand finale will enchant visitors as it lights up the night sky. The venue hosts Haneko Odori contests and parades along with various street stalls, making it an event that a wide range of generations from children to seniors can enjoy. The collaboration of traditional performing arts praying for a rich harvest and fireworks illuminating the late-summer night sky is a major highlight of this festival.
