About this event

Held in Shichikashuku Town, the town with the smallest population in Miyagi Prefecture, "Walk in Waraji Straw Sandals in Shichikashuku & Shichikashuku Fire Festival" is a summer event created jointly by the local residents. At the eve-of-festival "Shichikashuku Fire Festival," one of Tohoku's largest Saito Dai Goma rituals, a Yamabushi ascetic procession, and a fireworks display are held, buzzing with approximately 3,000 visitors. The Fire Festival takes place at Shichikashuku Dam Natural Recreation Park, featuring food trucks and tent stalls. The next day's "Walk in Waraji Straw Sandals in Shichikashuku" is a perfect event for making summer memories, where participants leisurely walk about 12 km from the ski resort to the Town Hall while feeling the cool summer river sounds and enjoying entertainment recreating Edo-period barrier checkpoints and teahouses.
