About this event

Held at Kimimachizaka Prefectural Natural Park in Noshiro City, Akita Prefecture, the "Kimimachizaka Autumn Foliage Festival" is an event where visitors can enjoy vivid autumn leaves against the backdrop of the Byobu-iwa folding screen cliff. This area, whose Byobu-iwa cliff creates an iconic landscape, was named "Kimimachizaka" in 1881 (Meiji 14) by Emperor Meiji, who was moved by its beauty. In early November, the area in front of Koibumi Shrine and the 2nd Plaza are adorned like a bright red carpet of autumn foliage. The promenade in front of Koibumi Shrine is especially popular for its red carpet-like autumn leaves. During the festival, food stall events and the Noshiro Folk Performing Arts Association recital will also be held on Sunday, October 25. The famous Akita tradition of "Tebura de Nabe-kko" (hands-free hot pot experience) is also available until mid-November (reservation required).
