About this event
Reaching its 19th edition this year, the "Urabandai Sky Valley Hill Climb" is a bicycle race with one of the longest histories in the prefecture. The stage is Bandai-Asahi National Park, home to one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. The starting point is Kyukamura Urabandai. In the first half, riders ride refreshingly along the shores of Lake Hibara, and from the middle section, they take on a full-scale mountain course on Azuma Sky Valley. The goal is Shirabu Pass on the Yamagata prefectural border. With a total distance of 16 km, an elevation gain of 580 m, and an average gradient of 4.2% (6.5% for the last 8 km), it features a challenging course design. It is a hill climb race where you can push your limits while enjoying the nature-rich landscape of Urabandai.
