"Forms of Urushi Exhibition 2026," held at The University Art Museum, Tokyo University of the Arts, is an exhibition showcasing the achievements of the Urushi (Lacquer Art) Laboratory. Continuing since 2007, the exhibition marks its 20th year in 2026. A diverse range of urushi expressions will be gathered under one roof, featuring renowned artists including Professors Emeriti Nagatoshi Onishi, Kiichiro Masumura, Arisumi Mitamura, and Norihiko Ogura, alongside current faculty members who graduated from the laboratory, as well as doctoral and master's students, including international students from abroad. It will be a rare opportunity to savor the unique worldview of lacquer art pursued by each artist. Gallery talks will also be held during the exhibition period, allowing visitors to deepen their understanding of the works.
