2026 Autumn Tour Grand Sumo Tournament Tsukuba Basho

Held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at the Tsukuba Capio Arena in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, the "2026 Autumn Tour Grand Sumo Tournament Tsukuba Basho" is a valuable opportunity to experience the passionate bouts of sumo wrestlers up close. On the day, doors open at 9:00 AM, featuring open practice, Jonidan/Sandanme/Makushita bouts, Sumo Jinku (folk singing), Hatsukkiri (comical sumo), Yagura Daiko drum performances, hair-styling demonstrations, Yokozuna rope-tying demonstrations, Makuuchi and Yokozuna ring-entering ceremonies, Makuuchi bouts, and the bow-twirling ceremony (Yumitori-shiki), concluding (uchidashi) at 14:30. Popular wrestlers including Yokozuna Hoshoryu, Yokozuna Onosato, Ozeki Kotozakura, and Ozeki Kirishima, as well as local wrestlers from Tsuchiura City, Ibaraki Prefecture, are scheduled to participate. Sales of sumo goods and food trucks are also planned at the venue. Access to the venue is approximately a 10-minute walk from Exit A3 of Tsukuba Station on the Tsukuba Express line. Use of public transportation is recommended.
