Special Exhibition "Hossy OYAMA-go and Space Travel"

To commemorate the introduction of the mobile astronomical telescope vehicle "Hossy OYAMA-go," Oyama City Museum will hold the Special Exhibition "Hossy OYAMA-go and Space Travel." The exhibition will feature displays on pre-modern faith regarding space when gazing up at the cosmos and astronomical historical materials, rocket models from JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency), and introductions to space-related projects currently underway in Japan. It is designed to spark children's interest and curiosity in space in Oyama, and to introduce the activities of "Hossy OYAMA-go" to a wider audience. The exhibition consists of two sections, "Oyama's Pride: Hossy OYAMA-go" and "Hossy OYAMA-go and Space Travel," presenting various space-related materials and models under themes such as "Looking up at Space," "Going to Space," "Living in Space," and "Investigating Space." In addition, related events will be held during the period, including an unveiling ceremony for the new Hossy OYAMA-go, commemorative lectures, astronomical observation sessions, and a spacesuit wearing experience. In particular, the commemorative lecture will feature Makoto Yoshikawa from the JAXA Institute of Space and Astronautical Science as a guest lecturer, speaking on the topic "Protecting Earth from Celestial Collisions: The Forefront of Planetary Defense."
