About this event

Held in Ohtawara City, Tochigi Prefecture, the "Basho no Sato Kurobane Autumn Festival" is a quintessential autumn event hosted at Nakagawa River Park and Kurobane Elementary School Gymnasium. This festival is deeply connected to the "Kurobane Basho no Sato National Haiku Convention," which aims to disseminate new haiku culture from Kurobane—where the haiku master Matsuo Basho had an extended stay during his travels for "The Narrow Road to the Deep North" (Oku no Hosomichi)—and also carries a cultural aspect. At the venue, sales of local specialty goods and food and drinks, as well as various events are scheduled, offering autumn delicacies and a lively atmosphere to visitors. The nature-rich scenery around the venue is also one of its attractions.
