Gotokusan Mizusawa Kanzeon (Mizusawa-dera Temple) Autumn Leaves Light-up
Japanese name:五徳山 水澤観世音(水澤寺) 紅葉ライトアップ
📅 Sun, Nov 1, 2026 - Fri, Nov 20, 2026
About this event
At Mizusawa Kannon, an ancient temple of the Tendai sect, the maples and ginkgo trees on the grounds begin to change into beautiful colors starting in late October. In November, when they reach peak viewing, a nighttime light-up illuminating the main hall, Niomon Gate, Rokkakudo (hexagonal hall), and other structures is scheduled to take place. During the autumn foliage season, the temple grounds are wrapped in a magical atmosphere, offering a different charm from the daytime. The illuminated autumn leaves will surely give visitors a special moving experience. The best viewing time is from early November to mid-November, though it may vary depending on the weather.
