Silver Week Special! Shiitake Mushroom Harvesting

During the Respect for the Aged Day long weekend, this special hands-on event invites the whole family to visit Ueno Village, tour a shiitake mushroom cultivation site, and harvest shiitake mushrooms with their own hands. After touring the facility for about 30 minutes to observe how shiitake mushrooms grow and learn about the cultivation process, participants move to the harvesting area to select and harvest as many shiitake mushrooms as they like. Participants can take home one bag (approximately 500g) of harvested shiitake mushrooms to enjoy at home. As a special Respect for the Aged Day rate, individuals aged 60 and over receive a discount from the regular fee. It is recommended for three-generation family outings, parents and children, and friends. Enjoying the behind-the-scenes aspects of food production is a unique autumn experience in Ueno Village, and because it is held indoors, participants can join with peace of mind even on rainy days.
