About this event
Connecting Ueno Village in Gunma Prefecture and Minamiaiki Village in Nagano Prefecture, the road running race "Dam to Dam Highland Run 2026", traversing the dams with Japan's highest elevations, will be held. A normally restricted route connecting Ueno Dam (source of Tone River) and Minamiaiki Dam (source of Shinano River) will be specially opened. The challenging course featuring repeated undulations passing through a peak elevation of about 1,500 meters dynamically crosses the Joshin'etsu border. The race categories have been renewed into Long 18 km (cumulative elevation gain 1,057 m) and Short 9 km (cumulative elevation gain 358 m). Eligibility is open to high school students and older who possess the running ability to complete the race within the time limit. The entry fee includes race participation, a participation prize, shuttle bus transport after finishing, sports injury insurance, and more. Exclusive race novelty items are also planned. Required items include a personal cup, headlamp, and race bib, and participants are recommended to bring rain gear, cold weather clothing, and sufficient water and food to prepare for weather changes. Baggage transport service is available, allowing participants to check baggage at the start line that they wish to receive after finishing. On race day, a dedicated race bus will operate from JR Takasaki Station. Drinks and light snacks will be provided at aid stations along the course. Out of consideration for environmental conservation, each participant is required to take their trash home. The event may be canceled due to weather or other reasons; in such cases, entry fees will not be refunded, but participation prizes will be distributed.
