The 4th Tamamura Film Festival

Held at the Tamamura Town Cultural Center Small Hall in Tamamura Town, Gunma Prefecture, "The 4th Tamamura Film Festival" will take place over two days on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20, 2026. A total of 4 films will be screened over the 2 days, with stage greetings by directors and cast members scheduled after every screening. This year's lineup includes works with deep connections to Gunma Prefecture, making it particularly noteworthy. "The Blue Boy Incident," screened on Sunday, September 20, was directed by Maebashi-born filmmaker Emi Iizuka and filmed entirely in Gunma Prefecture. Additionally, "I Can't Cry with Your Face" was filmed primarily in Tamamura Town and Takasaki City, featuring scenery of Tamamura Town in the movie. Being able to enjoy films shot locally in the very same region is a major attraction of this film festival. The screened works are "Fumiko Kaneko: What Made Me Do It" (September 19), "The Blue Boy Incident" (September 20), "You Are Beyond the Summit" (September 20), and "I Can't Cry with Your Face" (September 20). Tickets are 1,000 yen per film (film-specific ticket, all unreserved seating) and have been on sale since Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Tamamura Town Cultural Center and Cinematheque Takasaki. It will be a valuable opportunity not only to watch movies but also to hear directly about the works from the directors and cast members.
