Chiyoda-machi India Festa in Koon-ji Temple 2026

Set at the historic and renowned temple 'Akaiwasan Koon-ji' in Chiyoda Town, Gunma Prefecture, 'Chiyoda-machi India Festa in Koon-ji 2026', one of the largest Indian culture and food festivals in northern Kanto, will be held. This event is an autumn tradition held under the auspices of the Embassy of India, Gunma Prefecture, local municipalities, and major media outlets. Taking place at a temple that has garnered the faith of local people since ancient times, the festival brings together top-tier curry and spice cuisine assembled from all over Kanto, traditional dance, authentic musical performances, and traditional cultural experiences. Under the concept of 'the one day a year Chiyoda Town becomes India', it delivers a special sensory experience for everyone from enthusiasts to families. For gourmet food, 16 shops including 'Ginza Delhi', popular Tokyo restaurants with queues, and spice specialists will offer special festival-only menus. On stage, there will be a triumphal performance by genius dancer Kaname Tomiyasu, a passionate live performance of the traditional South Indian percussion instrument 'mridangam', and splendid dance performances by top dancers. Additionally, there is a wealth of content for children and adults alike, including a giant elephant puppet and monkey walk, sari dressing experiences, henna tattoos, Indian traditional instrument experience workshops, Ayurveda, and booths selling apparel and general goods. On Wednesday, October 28, a mini festa will also be held in conjunction with Koon-ji Temple's traditional event, the 'Autumn Fudo-son Grand Festival'.
