About this event

The 13th Tokorozawa Starry Sky Festival will be held, offering an opportunity for a wide range of generations, from children to adults, to feel closer to the starry sky. Held in cooperation with Vixen Co., Ltd., an optical device manufacturer headquartered in the city, it is an astronomical event realized through industry-academia-government collaboration. Free events include starry sky observation sessions, moon-viewing telescope experiences, Vixen craft classes, astronomical telescope classes, a high school student science plaza, star-waiting time (pantomime), starry sky Molkky experience, traditional lifestyle experiences, and commemorative photo corners. In addition, paid events include a telescope crafting workshop (500 yen), star-shaped keychain making (500 yen), and a Starry Sky Cafe. At the high school student science plaza, participants can experience making leaf vein specimen bookmarks with the Tokorozawa High School Chemistry Club, making plaster fossil models and mineral pigments with the Tokorozawa High School Earth Science Club, and building a spectroscope with the Tokorozawa Kita High School Earth Science Club. In the craft classes supported by Vixen, a handmade telescope workshop (paid, numbered ticket required) and a planisphere workshop (free, no numbered ticket required) will be held. At night, starry sky observation sessions to view the summer starry sky through astronomical telescopes while listening to explanations from starry sky guides, as well as a moon-viewing telescope experience to guide and observe the moon by yourself (numbered ticket required), will be held. In case of bad weather, contents may be subject to change.
