About this event
Held at the Tokorozawa Civic Cultural Centre Muse, 'Experience the World of Noh: Noh "Yuya"' is a performance where you can deeply experience the charm of Noh. In Part 1, the highlights of 'Yuya,' the hayashi musical accompaniment, and the costumes will be explained to deepen understanding of the Noh world. In the following Part 2, the Noh play 'Yuya' will be performed with Kanze school Noh actor Kikuo Endo playing the shite (lead role). The beautiful yet poignant story derived from The Tale of the Heike, depicting the courtesan Yuya who receives the favor of Taira no Munemori while thinking of her sick mother waiting in her hometown, is expressed through graceful chant and dance. This performance is an opportunity to feel closer to Noh, with related events also held such as commentary by Noh actors, a backstage tour, and experiences of chanting and suriashi sliding-foot technique on a specially installed Noh stage. Tickets are 3,700 yen for all reserved seats and can be purchased for 3,000 yen for Members Club members. Ticket sales start on Monday, March 16 for members' priority, and Monday, March 23 for general sales. Preschool children are not admitted, but a paid childcare service requiring reservation is available.
